Fascism never went away. The focus of it just came home and i am sorry. 20 years ago we could still agree that the enemies were “the terrorists” and simply watched while our government bombed the ever living shit out of “barbarians”. The amount of bloodshed that we as a western society have perpetrated should have really made us look at ourselves but we did not, because we still had these great values we pretended to matter at home.

Now autocracy rises and gleefully builds on the fascism that has been festering unchecked.

This is the stupidest authoritarian take over ever. Right wing cunts screeching on about “they” and “enemy” and all we’re fucking doing on the left is eating ice cream and watching cat videos on the internet. Like… how the fuck are you mad at people who don’t even know you exist?

After the absurd, recent proposal calling trans people some sort of organization rather than, you know, just a kind of person, yeah, I don’t blame any of my trans & NB folks for leaving. I’m NB and the idea that trans-ness is equivalent to “Nihilistic Violent Extremism” is absurd. It’s equivalent to labeling gay people violent extremist, people of color violent extremists. The only reason pessimism or nihilism might appear in someone trans/NB is because the society or people in power do this shit. People just want to live.

All of this is vindictive people looking for excuses to bully others while they can. Trump has cankles, Patel protects pedophiles, and fuck this regime.

I just came from a board meeting of Trans American Union and the CEO of Trans was very shook. He went straight to his office and had a 45 minute Element meeting with the vice president of Antifa and the managing Director of Woke.

I’m not there yet but I’m starting to look into what would happen if I do this. I’m currently living abroad (moved a little over a month ago!) and it’s seeming more every day like I may not be allowed to safely return

First they came for the immigrants, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a immigrant.

Then they came for the comedians, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a comedian.

Then they came for the transgender, and I did not speak out— Because I was not transgender.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The point is though that we all need to defend each group that is picked on. Each of these battles is our battle, no matter who we are. Only through solidarity putting ourselves on the line for the sake of others can fascism be resisted.

      Fun fact, not true.

Canada’s safe third country agreement does not apply to americans. There are currently americans in the processes of seeking asylum in Canada, and asylum courts have heard asylum claims from american citizens.

Im so scared i literally dont know what to do. I fled to a “safer” state after the election and now i have to leave it all behind. I want to just disappear but i really need to start packing i guess. I have enough in my measly retirement fund for one more move. Canada is looking like its only 2 locksteps behind us and mexico is not very friendly to american immigrants rn (for good reason). I genuinely dont know what to do and there are so many people in a worse spot than i am; i cant help but feel guilty for even considering fleeing.

You could always move to Europe and fight the Russians in the inevitable third world war. Or go to Australia, but their government tend to be total dick heads.

Personally I’m thinking of moving to Antarctica, that seems nice and far away from everyone else.

Don’t feel guilty for fleeing. Those who care about the cause* fight for those who can’t contribute as well. Everyone deserves the same care and protection. Today’s it’s you, one day it might be somebody else.

Its interesting to look at Trump and Hitler in comparison. I asked chat gpt to put this summary together so if you hate Ai stuff, skip it:

    Propaganda technique parallels:

    Simple, repeated slogans

Hitler: “Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer” (“One People, One Nation, One Leader”).

    Trump: “Make America Great Again.”

Function: Reduce complex problems into a single emotionally charged phrase, repeated until ingrained.

    Enemy construction / scapegoating

    Hitler: Jews, communists, “degenerates.”

    Trump: Immigrants, media, political opponents.

Function: Create a common external/internal enemy to unify supporters.

    Claim of exclusive truth

Hitler: Nazis as the only ones who understood Germany’s destiny.

Trump: “Only I can fix it” rhetoric, delegitimizing other sources of authority.

Function: Concentrate loyalty on the leader as sole interpreter of reality.

    Attack on independent press

Hitler: Branded press as “Lügenpresse” (lying press).

Trump: “Fake news media,” “enemy of the people.”

Function: Undermine alternative narratives, isolate supporters from dissent.

    Emotional amplification

Hitler: Used rage, victimhood, national humiliation (Versailles, economic collapse).

Trump: Anger at globalization, job loss, cultural change.

Function: Keep the base in a heightened emotional state that overrides rational analysis.

    Mass rally theatrics

Hitler: Choreographed Nuremberg rallies with symbols, music, torchlight.

Trump: Arena rallies with chants, hats, flags, media spectacle.

Function: Transform individuals into a collective identity and reinforce loyalty.

    Us vs. Them narrative

    Hitler: “Aryans” vs. everyone else.

Trump: “Real Americans” vs. coastal elites, globalists, immigrants.

Function: Simplify politics into existential struggle.

    Discredit institutions

Hitler: Courts, parliament, Weimar democracy depicted as broken and illegitimate.

Trump: Courts, FBI, electoral system often cast as corrupt or rigged.

Function: Reduce faith in mediating institutions, channel trust into the leader.

We know, and OP could have written a novel or quoted one, it’s a quick and dirty summary. A full list of everyone the Nazi’s went after would be as long as the post itself. Swear to god, why does everything around here have to be about “trans”.

WE KNOW. The broader comparisons are what the post is about, and I say again, it’s a pretty good summary.

Because trans people are the ones being aggressively persecuted by fascists right now?

It’s an article about trans people. Forgive us if, in addition to our concern about ICE abducting immigrants, we in the comments thread are concerned about the MAGA regime’s persecution of trans people.

We’re talking about Nazi prosecution in the 40s. I think we are ALL well aware that trans folks were on the list.

              “But TRANS!!”

Y’all need to get a fucking grip on reality.

              “But TRANS!!”

Yes, I’m onboard, have been for many years since I recognized their plight, since I recognized LGBT rights are civil rights. I’m old, took me a minute.

I want all of you to ZOOM in on this pin. The upside-down flag is enough to start a fight around here. I bought 10 of those “defend equality” pins. They are on all my outdoor bags, hats and purses. Challenge me. I am actively looking for an argument.

I am armed, practiced, know the laws, fit and ready to fight. How about all y’all?

Here I am, looking like a total doofus. I was likely the only man in the hood able to dress and move in the NW Florida, record breaking snow. It was fun as hell!

Point being, I can fight if I have to, despite being old and short of breath. But fuck anyone who says I’m all talk or won’t die to defend civil liberties. My wife is a legal, brown, immigrant. I got a dog in this fucking fight.

I appreciate your support, but you’re in the comments section of an article about the persecution of trans people, complaining that people want to talk about the persecution of trans people. It seems like a reasonable thing for people to do here.
