They’ll be putting together a committee to write a strongly -worded (but not too strong) letter, BLASTING and SLAMMING her.
How about stop threatening and start doing???
How, exactly?
Contempt requires a majority vote in both houses of Congress. Do you think any Republicans would vote for that?
And let’s say we get a miracle and Congress does pass it. They will have two options- civil contempt and criminal contempt.
Civil contempt is just a judge’s order, and we know Trump officials regularly ignore those.
Criminal contempt is prosecuted by the DoJ. The same DoJ led by Pam Bondi, the person who should be prosecuted. Do you think she will prosecute herself?
Unfortunately as far as I understand it, this is something that will have to wait until after the next election.
The best weapon that the Khanna/Massie coalition has is the media, and they are using “contempt” to get more media attention. I think they should be praised for their work in this matter so far, the Epstein Files Transparency Act is the best thing Congress has done in a long time.
I guess it comes down to how low the republicans will go in the chain to bend the knee. They have abdicated so much of the massive power they have to king trump but will they now do it to his vassals as well. Will they do it for all members of the cabinet then. The question is how weak and pathetic they are willing to be.
Oh no. Not an empty threat.
Not really. Contempt is quite easy to prove here. They’ve admitted there’s things they haven’t released despite the order being “all materials”, and they didn’t say they was a problem complying until after the deadline.
Should be a summary judgement for a judge and contempt is a jail time offence.
Edit:
He went on to say: “The quickest way, and I think most expeditious way, to get justice for these victims is to bring inherent contempt against Pam Bondi, and that doesn’t require going through the courts.”
They don’t even need a judge.
True. And I agree. The issue is finding someone that cares enough and with the power, to actually do something. And for it then to not be thrown out by a Trump loyalist.
Well the thing they are in contempt of was virtually unanimously passed in both the house and senate. If they have ANY kind of consistency, they should follow through. I expect there will be some republican slippage, but all of them?
DO IT NOW
And miss the opportunity for a strongly worded letter? Mon Dieu! No, always threaten, never do. /s
I had an uncle who said a lot of things, well I guess we’ve all had a family member who fancied themselves intellectuals, but anyway, one of the more intelligent things my uncle used to say was “if you have a case, don’t threaten to sue, just sue”.
Stop threatening and start doing things, fucks sake.
contempt? what happened to impeachment?
She doesn’t just deserve to get fired.
So, a hard stare.
Do not underestimate a long hard stare.

I, erm, y-y-yes, sorry, my apologies…
