I speak from experience with them on a regular basis in a non clinical setting. What does their specialty have to do with what I said?

    Nothing at all.

I do know a few though who were violent on more than on occasion but not with me. None of them ever treated me either. Two were thoracic surgeons and one guy who was really creepy was a neurosurgeon. All still practicing but all very hard to take on a day to day basis. Two are barely functioning alcoholics and one has insane levels of OCD. None of which has anything to do with the specialty they practice or their competency. I also know several GPs who have similar qualities but to a lesser extent. You have to be a little bit psychopathic just to endure the training to be a doctor so its no surprise some of the best have those traits. The stress of the job also lends itself to substance abuse and volatility. It doesn’t make them murderers. Just really self centered.
