Oz is clearly a psychopath. Just look at his profession. Surgeons typically have these traits. Most of them though are not bad people but a fair percentage also lack any empathy and those are dangerous.

Agreed. I’ve worked with a lot of physicians, and surgeons tend to have the biggest egos and display more psycho\sociopathic traits than other types of doctors, although the surgeons I’ve worked with have all been great people… Except for the one that did a case, didn’t write a post op note, then drove halfway across the country to kill his ex and her new boyfriend. The patient died during that time

That is sorta what I’m saying about surgeons. Most of them are decent people despite their mindset. A few though are not good people. I did IT for several doctors and in my experience they all have their little quirks. Its what allows them to do the job and a few break from it. Some don’t or can’t come back from it while others return and seem better than they had ever been previously. My current primary care Physician lost his license for a few years due to alcohol abuse. He is a lot calmer and approachable now.

People like to say things like this, but most surgeons are specialists in their field who also do surgery within their fields of specialization.

I speak from experience with them on a regular basis in a non clinical setting. What does their specialty have to do with what I said?

        Nothing at all.

I do know a few though who were violent on more than on occasion but not with me. None of them ever treated me either. Two were thoracic surgeons and one guy who was really creepy was a neurosurgeon. All still practicing but all very hard to take on a day to day basis. Two are barely functioning alcoholics and one has insane levels of OCD. None of which has anything to do with the specialty they practice or their competency. I also know several GPs who have similar qualities but to a lesser extent. You have to be a little bit psychopathic just to endure the training to be a doctor so its no surprise some of the best have those traits. The stress of the job also lends itself to substance abuse and volatility. It doesn’t make them murderers. Just really self centered.
