Calling actors “workers” is quite funny.
They are. A behind the scenes look at the Wizard of Oz shows why Hollywood needs unions. Precedent that affects Hollywood unions can easily affect all other unions. Not all of them are rich, either; in fact, a great many workers in Hollywood are just getting by in one of the highest cost of living areas in the US.

How so?
When you hear someone say “I support workers” you don’t exactly imaging them supporting some that gets paid millions to play pretend while 3 other people carry their coffee.
If all actors get millions, why aren’t we all just actors then?
Assuming every actor gets paid millions is no different than assuming every person who works downtown is a CEO.
AI is not going to replace the CEOs or the A-list actors. It’s going to replace the forgettable workers at the bottom of the staircase, the ones people don’t even bother to imagine, so they can pay the A-listers extra. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. That’s how this economy works, always has.

I hear you, and I’m not criticizing you, I’m just pointing out that the hollywood stars aren’t the ones we need to worry about, the whole premise is invalid. Hollywood stars will be fine, of course. It’s everyone else who won’t be.
Most actors aren’t millionaires, and ‘playing pretend’ for a camera is no less work than playing pretend for corporate ghouls in an office.
The original post was talking about “hollywood stars” though. Sure, they might be workers in the strict literal sense, it’s still funny to me to call them that.
