Per the relevant NYT article it seems like the Dems are willing to push the vote to extend until next year after the midterms, when they feel they will gain seats & be able to pass
[T]he package omits the Democrats’ central demand in the shutdown fight: an extension of federal health insurance tax credits that are slated to expire at the end of the year. […] Some Senate Democrats pointed to their party’s wins as a sign that voters supported their fight to extend the health coverage subsidies, and urged leaders to dig in. But others were wary of prolonging a shutdown that has already had painful consequences, and were searching for a compromise that would allow them to end the crisis.
i would say remember this when they justify it to their base by saying that they’ll pass the legislation after the next “blue wave” so that they can say they’ll reverse the damage that this capitulation will cause; but every time the democrats have had a majority and tried to fix healthcare, they found an excuse to prevent them from doing so and democrat voters are surprised each time it happens anyways.
the truly crazy part is that they’ll insist on voting for those same democrats anyways using self-reinforcing propaganda like “two party system” or “first past the post” or “throwing your vote away” and that will lead us back into the same situation again in the future.
Dems are caving, no doubt.

Hopefully fucking not.
<narrator>: they did
I am so goddamned angry. All of this was for nothing?
it was theater and they’re getting better at it.
