Don’t forget, the previous longest shutdown was because Trump insisted on getting federal funding for his border wall. His clown followers chanted it during rallies.

The wall no one talks about because it was a stupid idea for stupid people.

Oh I thought the wall was going to stop all these “criminals” that you’re deporting? No?

    The top 5:

    • 36 days and counting
    • 35 days
    • 21 days
    • 17 days
    • 16 days

The gap between 2:nd and 3:rd as well as looking at an overall average of around 10 days … Is’t a strange and worrying record that trump is holding with his 1st and 2nd place.

PS: could someone call DOGE? The 35 day shutdown costed the usa $5 billion this ain’t gonna be cheaper

The biggest issue I see is that there’s really no motivation on either side to reopen the govt. If any Dems capitulate to Trump they’ll 100% lose their seats as soon as they go for reelection. On the other side, Reps have long since stopped giving a fuck about any of their constituents and only care about appeasing Trump, so they can’t capitulate either.

I think what’s most likely at this point is that the shutdown lasts through Thanksgiving, and we end up with an air traffic mess of hitherto unseen proportions. It’ll likely be enough of an embarrassment that we’ll see support for a clean CR that will push the issue until after Christmas, and then we’ll probably shutdown again.
