An analysis of two legal cases, their downstream effects, and an example of the kind of thematic harm that can imbue. This video focuses firstly on establishing the Bell-Textron lawsuit against EA and the AM General lawsuit against Activision, analyzing how these affected those publisher’s games, and then exploring a causative relationship between how these games went on to portray real-world intellectual properties afterwards. Following that, we go into two case studies about Call of Duty’s AC-130: a likely casualty of these lawsuits, and Metal Gear: a game that suffered genuine thematic harm from following this pattern, Don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with these series, as I do my best to introduce them and provide any necessary context.
