Billionaire Ken Griffin reaffirmed Citadel's move to Miami at the Milken Conference, citing his feud with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani over tax policy changes.
First it was “let’s raise taxes on the rich, they won’t leave no matter what we do to them”. Then it was “noooooooo the rich aren’t leaving NYC at all”. Now it’s “okay so the rich are leaving, I guess, but that’s a good thing”.
Ken is an interesting man. I have met him several times. I respect his skills, but I also think they have become so large that he can use his power to manipulate the market.
That said, he does pay his people extremely well. He has moved most the operations out of Chicago. New York is next.
