Polls like this remind me that a Bush Administration level of media influencer competency probably could have won a majority of Americans over to justify the Iran War.

Just the fact that 1/4 Americans think the war was justified to begin with illustrates how trivial it is to herd people towards the next overseas genocide.

Well remember, when you hear the average intelligence is X, that is the middle of road; which means there is an upper quarter of super intelligent people and a lower quarter of people who are probably dumber than anyone you have ever met.

It isn’t even a question of intelligence. Plenty of objectively smart people supported Iraq and Afghanistan.

A lot of this boils down to white supremacy and the colonial drive to dominate the globe.

lower quarter of people who are probably dumber than anyone

That’s not how uniform distributions work. The population isn’t equally weighted. Something like 80% of the population is indistinguishably intelligent, with the outlayers still being highly susceptible to social pressure and confirmation bias.

If anything “smart” people are more prone to bigotry, due to their more sensitive pattern recognition.

Well of course there is a reason…

Trump needed something to take the people away from the Epstein files, and the mounting evidence that Trump was in fact a paedophile (nevermind that this wasn’t exactly unobvious before all this).

You can tell he wanted the Iran war to be an easy W - but just like Putin learned the hard way - Trump has now also learned other countries don’t just give up their sovereignty without a fight.

Instead of creating good PR to flush away Epstein, he’s only dug a bigger hole for himself to be stuck in… Not only is he still a paedophile, he’s also an idiot who started a completely unnecessary war in another country and is actively abetting a genocide. Way to go Donald.

It is the same percentage every time with these fucking polls. All magats agree with Trump and the rest of Americans doesn’t. This revelas nothing which wasn’t known before.

I do think these polls are significant because if you look at any major US conflict as far back as we’ve had polls, the trend is generally massive support across party lines early on, which gradually dwindles as the bodies start piling up. Vietnam is remembered for the protests but it had a ton of support at the beginning. Bush hit about 90% approval while he was launching forever wars in the Middle East. Even as recently as Ukraine, in the early days, Republicans were generally supportive of sending aid.

For a conflict to be this unpopular this early on is completely unprecedented in American history, at least afaik.

Um… don’t we all just assume Trump got some bad news on the negotiations, decided he’d rather missle the opposing party and just ordered the strike in a rage?

Afterwards, like the true nincompoop he is, decided to justify as if it was some kind of real plan.

Then I’m sure he just assumed he could “win” the negotiation by threatening further violence.

Just imagine working for this fucktard and now, reflecting on this string of events, realizing that this is why we have guards as nightclubs to prevent drunken brawls like this, and your boss is nothing more than a weak, incompetent mobster surrounded by people who just want a snort of whatever the fuck he’s sniffing under the desk.
