This isn’t a technical requirement. It’s a legal requirement based on either incomplete or vested understanding of the problem. Such requirements must not only be rejected, the legislators who propose those should be investigated for graft and public shunned and shamed. Traitors of humanity!
Except if you think about it, this is possible with smartphones too. They have cameras in the front and the back. The phone just has to be vertical. But docks and holders take care of that. The only thing left is the camera to be recording. Sure there are permission systems. But they’re all software. No physical switches or indicators for safety. You won’t know even if it’s recording. And if it’s recording, it will uploading it just as easily. We’re addicted to a spy device.
It’s not really that baffling. What was done to the Jews by the Nazis is utterly indefensible. And some of the attitude that led to it still persists in society. The Zionists used that to guilt trip the world into banning public criticisms against Jews and Israel - legitimate or otherwise. They use it to silence even the ultraconservative Jewish sects and actual Holocaust survivors who speak up against the transgressions within their community. This was particularly effective in Germany as they were coming to terms with what they had done.
This is why we should never encourage victimhood narratives by anyone. They’re very often trying to emulate the atrocities they describe. Hate speech should be condemned and called out - but uniformly without discrimination.
They’re legit trying to lock down general purpose computing devices. Even though they term this as ‘child protection’, this can be easily abused to lock everyone out of system modification. The heads of the corporations that sponsor this and legislators who took their money should be dragged out of their offices and paraded in a perp walk.
