19 days agoUgh. This is both a, “about damned time” article and a, “WTF are you even doing‽” article.
Small drones are extremely easy to make. The US military shouldn’t be buying them, they should be making them. On demand.
A nearly fully automated assembly line could be constructed for a fraction of the price they’re paying. Then they could keep their capabilities secret and ramp up production up/down as much as they want/need.
The next big war(s) will be won with manufacturing capacity of small robots like this. They can’t be relying on 3rd parties. Not only that, but if done correctly, the drone’s parts could be 3D printed on demand in the field to handle repairs. It’s like the US military isn’t even thinking about the big picture for such things.
