  • That’s a fine opinion to have, though I disagree with it. These tarrifs aren’t going to do much to moves things back to the US though. If nothing else, because the tarrifs won’t last long enough to have an effect. It’s likely that most, if not all, of them are illegal and will be struck down in court. But even if they aren’t, the next president is almost certainly going to remove them. It’s too easy of a win for them. Remove them and lower everyone’s expenses.

It takes years to move things to a new production facility. Companies aren’t going to just suddenly move production at the whim of a president unless they already have a way to accomplish that. Pssst, almost none of them do. They’re going to wait things out.

If congress actually enacted these tarrifs you’d get way more companies moving back to the US if there are cost savings in the long run. Cause those would very likely be in place a lot longer than a president’s term. The other problem is just jacking tarrifs up 100+% right out of the gate for certain countries. Even if companies want to move, that’s a lot of hurt in the meantime.

  • I’m going to assume you aren’t trolling. How is it toying with people’s lives? Because over half of the US population lives paycheck to paycheck. People that may not be able to afford the cost increases that these tarrifs have caused. It doesn’t matter if they get a refund months down the line. If you can’t afford food or rent do you think the store or the landlord is going to wait to get paid until you get a refund? No.

And why would I donate any refund I get from tarrif money? It was literally my money to begin with. I already donate. And actually, I should go donate again to my local food bank since his majesty decided the government shouldn’t help people who can’t afford food. I’m sure he still thinks he’s a good Christian.

Why exactly do you support these tarrifs? Because they sure as hell aren’t doing what his majesty claims they do.

  • This brought to mind a revelation from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Various bloody incidents happened around the country. The common thread being that the local government/military had things under control but the the central government came and took over things. Everything got worse once they took over and the result was a lot of bloodshed, which is exactly what they wanted.

In all these cities there’s nothing out of the ordinary going on but federal forces come in and suddenly there’s a bunch of protests and fighting and other violence. Everything is backward. There’s supposed to come in when things are bad to help make it better, but they are coming in when things are fine and making everything bad.
