YouTube Music has started putting lyrics — a previously free feature introduced in 2020 — behind a paywall.
Lyrics taken from other sites, and lyrics that are often wrong.
Why is Youtube’s monetization strategy so… petty?
It’s just standard capitalism. Find something that people value and monetize it.

Yeah, was gonna post about this a few days ago. They literally blur the fucking lyrics:
It’s been like this for about 3 days or so now, so I don’t even know when it refreshes and gives you lyrics again. The lyrics they just pull from other sites and sometimes isn’t even synced right 🙄
I guess I really just need to move to Navidrome now. I have the Arr suite set up and everything…
Edit: And I am already on YT Revanced, so they’re gonna need to drop a patch for that soon I guess. I mean, they try to block the stream all the time anyway so this is just another step

Pipepipe, Tubular still working fine. Metrolist (ytmusic specific) had some issues yesterday but it’s fine now so it may have been my vpn’s location getting blocked
