DOJ attorney jobs are universally underpaid and overworked. The only reason people do them is for the prestige of the office and for feeling like you are actually accomplishing something of societal value. Every senior person in these positions could get a better job tomorrow if they wanted one.

On the plus side, those same people are often also a bit fuzzy on the meaning of judicial procedure, which helps slow down or stop their targeted attacks. Lindsey Halligan’s very public fumbling of her blatantly targeted cases comes to mind.
