But really, what could actually be done when the regime goes “so what are you gonna do about it” to a court decision? They have no actual enforcement power. That makes it effectively dead.

They risk a civil war breaking out inside the military, if they decide to cross the line into blatantly disregarding the Constitution. The instant Trump tries to give them an obviously illegal order, you will see how many of those generals take their oath to the Constitution seriously. And I would be very surprised if there’s more than a handful that would actually be willing to follow Trump down that road.

More than a handful I’d say. Why do you think they’ve worked so hard to install loyalists at every level throughout the USG?

They haven’t actually gotten rid of very many generals. They got rid of a lot of lawyers, hoping that without legal council, the generals would simply follow orders…but once you reach the rank of general, asking advice from legal council is usually just a formality. They already know whether an order is legal or not.

That’s why I said there would be a civil war inside the military. If Trump actually gave them the order to engage the US public, the entire chain of command would collapse. There would be enough officers unwilling to follow that order, that the order itself would never reach the bottom. And if any rank and file soldier decided to follow that order, without it coming from their direct commanding officer, they would be up for court-martial.
