One voter, Shirley Dum, said it is the first time in her life she has faced the life-or-death choice of voting for Democrats. “It’s common knowledge here, we’ve seen people drop dead right at the booth for voting wrong. But I will not be able to afford healthcare for my 4 unemployed single mid-30s male children at these prices. It’s scary, yes, but a mother has to sacrifice for her children.”
It’s unclear how many Republicans will actually change their vote. We caught up with Shirley a week later and she told us she had voted by mail that morning, for Republicans.
It is good to remember that people can change, regardless of the insanity going on online. Hopefully we have some good candidates during the midterms, but the NY Mayoral race has given me a little bit of hope.
