Luigi Mangione is due in federal court for a pivotal hearing in his fight to bar the government from seeking the death penalty against him in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson
He should have made a guilty plea deal if he was so worried about the consequences of his actions. Does he think he gets to sentence others to death but others shouldn’t be allowed to do the same to him?
What are you even saying? Of course they are going to fight the charges, this has zero to do with being worried and a guilty plea deal would be the worst idea.
We don’t know if Luigi actually did anything, the state was looking for someone to arrest. Can we truly trust the evidence wasn’t planted to avoid the bad PR of admitting they can’t find who did it?
And while he is not even proven guilty of the crime, death penalty is already being discussed? Lacks any resemblance to justice.
Using a plea deal would mean less harsh sentencing. It might be his only way to survive and drastically reduce his time in Prison.
The evidence against him is overwhelming. No Allibi, he designed and printed the parts used in the murder weapon on his computer, he has a history of violent rhetoric online such as a book review for the book title carved into the casings, and he was caught fleeing the scene with a backpack full of $20,000.
Now, he’s going to die for his stupidity and pride. He should have just been a man and owned up to it, not killing and then fleeing like a little rat bastard.
If the evidence is indeed overwhelming and procedures are following correctly then justice will be served.
In either scenario pleading guilty is a mistake:
If he did not do it then he should not be punished and fight all charges against his innocence. I hope thats a given
But if he did do it then he is really representing a cause to “fight back against the system” therefore the goal is to drag this case out and maximise news coverage to highlight that cause and possibly become a martyr. Not to admit wrong and look weak and regretful.
Judging by his reaction to fanmail, asking you all to please stop, I get the feeling Luigi doesn’t give a shit about your devotion. He did this because he thought he could walk away afterwards.
I am just trying to understand your reaction to realistic justice strategy.
I don’t believe i have expressed any opinion on the matter, it’s you who seem to be emotionally involved with this case.
If you want to know i think the whole thing is very interesting and i am curious to find out how it evolves. And when it evolves no further, i take what i learned and move on.
It’s on video when the officer pulls it out of his bag. What gets admitted to the court, due to lack of miranda rights reading, aside you and I both know that was his gun that he made himself.
Actually, given the police’s long history of planting evidence in order to get convictions, I don’t know for certain that was Luigi’s gun. It could have come from the evidence locker for another case, you never know with cops.
Was it also not his computer and 3D printer? Did the police plant that entire appartment on him, maybe the Mangione fortune heir was actually homeless?
Just as a question out of curiosity and without judgement.
Should the same also apply to the rest of the murders happening all across or just when a person of high financial value is the target?
For example the numerous cases happening around law enforcement and similar institutions?
Murder is Murder and must be prosecuted without any immunity.
I haven’t heard any news about law enforcement killings since that story about Derek Chauvin being stabbed dozens of times in prison ( lol ) but maybe you’re referring to the story about the criminal gang ICE who abduct random people without real warrants? That guy should face trial for murder. So should Pete Hegseth. And get Kristi Neom fpr obstruction and conspiracy to commit a murder, too.
I haven’t heard any news about law enforcement killings
There have been numerous, high profile murders/lynchings by police since May 25, 2020.
Also, just to be totally current, ICE shot a woman in the face this week, Renee Nicole Good. Also, an off duty ICE agent in Los Angeles shot one of his neighbors, Keith Porter, and has not been arrested.
It doesnt sound like you support racist, murderous cops; and it sounds like you are rightly angered by ICE. I just wanted to be clear about a few things.

I wonder if you or him will feel stupid when they announce he’s getting the chair or the rope.
You know what Martyrdom is right?

You continue to seem to misunderstand how the law works
Devotion?

A lot of words just to call me a liar, lmao
Your list is all circumstantial. The chain of custody for actual evidence (the gun) has a 8min hole.
It’s on video when the officer pulls it out of his bag. What gets admitted to the court, due to lack of miranda rights reading, aside you and I both know that was his gun that he made himself.
Officers Christy Wasser and Fox had done a cursory search of Mangione’s backpack at the McDonald’s and found a loaded magazine.
Wasser turned off her body-worn camera for an 11-minute period.
When she turned the body camera on again, she brought the bags into the precinct. Upon opening the backpack, she quickly found the firearm.
No. There is a reasonable opportunity for the gun to be planted.
Actually, given the police’s long history of planting evidence in order to get convictions, I don’t know for certain that was Luigi’s gun. It could have come from the evidence locker for another case, you never know with cops.

Once the chain of custody is broken we can’t know for sure. That’s the whole reason the chain of custody is important.
No, I unironically think Luigi was an idiot who threw his life away to kill a man who was replaced in a single evening, helping no one in the process.
Allegedly.
