This was actually the crazy thing to me about the first Trump administration after it was over. You expect there are actually smart people pulling the strings or something.

But the truth is, details from respectable books written afterwards make it remarkably clear that Trump’s team are quite frequently absolute morons. Legitimately stupid people.

Steve Jobs talked about this pattern where really great people (“A-players”) hire people who aren’t as good as them. Then the “B-players” hire “C-players,” and the company/organization eventually reflects that.

Trump has never been anywhere near an A-player, so you can see the issue. They’re always starting at grade D or worse.
