Use Peertube with you own Server from https://fedihost.co/ or https://elest.io/ Server cost will be about 10 USD per month. Download the List with my 218 Channel Recommendations: https://nx67498....
@meldrik to be honest I do not agree with the video, and I do not recommend it unless you are a creator.
There is a small advantage if you host your own instance: You are owner of your subscriptions, as long as you pay the instance. But if you do not intend to upload videos this is a complete overkill.
You can subscribe other channels without a fee:
with any PeerTube account you can create on a lot of other instances
with a Mastodon account or other activity pub enabled services - even though that might not be the best experience it is okay for casual subscriptions
the actual killer: You do not need any account at all, because you can subscribe to any channel with RSS. Just look at the bottom of the “Subscribe” drop down. Drawback: commenting is not possible.

Here’s a useful link to the casual viewer: https://markvandenborre.frama.io/joinpeertube/instances#instances-list
Pick an instance you consider sufficient, create an account, and start watching.
