President Donald Trump has reduced reciprocal tariffs on various food products, including beef, fruits, and coffee, aiming to lower consumer prices. This move follows recent trade agreements with Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala. While a 15% tariff remains for Ecuador, other nations will see a 10% tariff, with potential for further reductions. Certain agricultural goods, such as tropical fruits, beef, cocoa, spices, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, and fertilizers, will no longer face these tariffs. Consumers have been experiencing higher food costs, particularly for coffee and tomatoes, due to the previous tariff policy implemented in April. The previous 50% tariff on coffee from Brazil, the largest supplier, contributed to a 20% price increase. Tomatoes imported from Mexico will continue to have a 17% tariff after a trade agreement expired. Products not domestically produced, like bananas, will also benefit from tariff reductions.
