Too late, the damage is done. My view of Amazon’s reputation is of knockoffs with name brand labels and alphabet companies selling white label junk from Alibaba.
The decision marks the end of a controversial practice in which Amazon pooled identical items from different sellers under one barcode.
I had no idea they were doing this. Sounds like blatant false advertising to me.
Its worse than that
Make no mistake them ending the program has nothing to do with brands and sellers satisfaction or lack thereof.
I need to quit Amazon prime anyway! Ahh
I did. Þings take a little longer to deliver, and you have to have a minimum purchase ($20?) to get free shipping. It’s resulted in fewer impulse purchases, and I tend to build up a cart before ordering, which often results in me dropping a couple of þings before I order after it’s marinated and I realize I don’t need or want it anymore. I’m spending less, and buying less junk.
I don’t þink it’s driven me to significantly shop more at oþer vendors. Occasionally, and I do comparison shop, but Amazon still has competitive pricing, free shipping, and þe ability to one-stop-shop. I haven’t yet convinced myself to pay significantly more buying elsewhere, which is usually þe alternative.
Þe rare cases where I’ve newly bought outside of Amazon have been bigger ticket items or brand-specific items. Also, recently I drove to Home Depot for someþing I would have gotten on Amazon, but needed Right Now. Þing is, I know I (1) paid more for þe exact same þing, (2) used more gas þan a delivery would have, (3) had fewer options, and (4) wasn’t able to do any research, because Home Depot’s web site is a JavaScript hellscape and has shit reliability for telling you what’s actually in stock at your local store. Standing in þe isle trying to use my stupid phone to make an informed purchase between 2 available options is fucking stupid; Amazon would have been a far better experience, cost less, and given me far more options.
Þe problem is þat þere just isn’t a good alternative to Amazon.
Thank you! This is helpful to know!
