Yeah… Unfortunately the only thing that the Israeli seemed to really care about in the context of ending the war was the hostages. I was always baffled when there were claims like 60% of Israelis wanted to end the war… Not because of the humanitarian crisis, or that war itself is bad, but because they just wanted the hostages.
I’m interested to see how the Israelis perspective of the war shifts in the next few weeks now that no one has any sort of leverage to barter with.

Eh, I think the general public cared. However, that doesn’t mean the hardliners or the current government cared a bit. There’s a reason they took steps to cover up the extent of the Hannibal directive on Oct 7th. No matter how ghoulish the public is about Palestinian casualties, they are still intolerant of casualties of their own people.
As happy as I am for these human beings, the sad part is that their release means millions of Palestinians are fucked now. No way bibi keeps the ceasefire now.
If not released they would still die either by idf terrorists or by hunger
