I’d guess its a prosecution tactic to get a blameless mistrial and start this shit all over again when the case falls apart. They’ve gotten their asses handed to them just about every step of the way so far, and antijudicial momentum is running hard against all the stupid shit the Trump administration has pulled over the last year and a half. Prosecution wants to let all the hubbub die down over the next 6 months so they can try again next year when there isnt as much attention on how fucked our legal system is right now.
