      Until supplies dwindle and they need oil to make more plastic components, or until demand outstrips supply.

        If the price of oil rose to $1000 a barrel, or less than $10/kg, it might still be economical. Also, IIUC, petroleum might not be necessary, and plastics can be recycled.

        While manufacturing plastic ain’t that great, it beats burning petro any day as far as climate change and air quality are concerned.
