    There is no known evidence that Hongqi Bridge had any construction flaws.

    I would say not building necessary protections against landslides is a construction flaw or at least a planning one.

      Tradeoffs are necessary. I would prefer the Chinese approach to rapid infrastructure upgrades, over what the US is doing with our crumbling highway infrastructure.

        I would like to point out that most bridges are pretty safe too, this one notwithstanding. Most are built so the front doesn’t fall off.

      It even mentioned there were cracks in the bridge before the landslide. However, I think the point of that comment is that the bridge was built correctly it was the design they picked that was flawed.
